Everyday ke and extraordinary hare.
We harvest food from the earth and return our gratitude and prayers to that same earth. We reaffirm our bonds with one another even as we are unbound, celebrating our connection with nature and its cycles. A matsuri—a time and place for sharing such moments of hare—can be said to embody the very community of a single hamlet.
In Nagi Town, cradled by the Nagi Range (Yokosen area) that includes Mt. Nagi, we will hold the Sanbutarō Festival. Rooted in the local folktale “Sanbutarō” preserved in the land of “Nagi,” and created together with local residents who are also practitioners of the performing arts, the festival reconsiders the relationship between the community that lives on this land and its folk performing arts and culture. Eat and drink, sing and dance.
